I’m a huge, huge proponent of self-care. I do my best to give my mind, heart, and body the love they deserve.
Sometimes that means letting go of relationships that aren’t working.
Sometimes that means forgiving.
Sometimes that means finally hiring an intern to help juggle the million little things that go into maintaining an internet presence.
Or, sometimes that means walking + manicures + snacks.
Here are a few of the things I do to love myself.
:: Walking around my neighborhood at least once a week on Saturday or Sunday, with my daughter. Walking on the weekend with nature reminds me of who I really am: abundant, powerful, guided + loved
:: I get a manicure once a week. It makes me feel sparkly + put together.
:: A cup of tea every morning on my favorite chair facing the CN tower. I open my window and just listen to the birds and sound of nature.
:: Carrying snacks with me! My days can get really, really busy juggling coaching clients, blogging, social media-ing, networking in person. If I’m not careful, I’ll get too busy to eat lunch! So I’m always carrying snacks in my bag.
:: Coconut water! I swear by Vita Coco. For those dry and sunny days here in Toronto, it’s great for hydration. I drink one bottle a day and sometimes even take it to workout with me.
:: I light candles morning, noon and night to add a calming, reflective energy to my condo.
:: I have trouble turning my mind off at the end of the day so I try to spend 10-15 min laying on my couch and listening to Deepak Chopra Heart Meditation station on Pandora Radio. Of course, doesn’t always work and sometimes I find myself staring at the ceiling imaging blog posts I want to write! (sigh)
Just like everyone else, I’m a work in progress and I fall off the self-care wagon occasionally. But these little things are a great way to check in, calm down, and show myself some of the love + care I need to get through the day.
